A college-centered research university, American University's rigorous curriculum challenges students to combine serious
theoretical study with meaningful, real-world learning experiences. The transition to university life can be challenging, particularly
for students who have recently left the more structured experience of military service. American University offers a range of
programs and resources, including the Veterans' Liaison Network, a dedicated Veterans’ Services Administrator, a Veterans'
Lounge, the student-run AU Vets, ROTC, and participation in the Yellow Ribbon program to ensure that veterans thrive
academically and socially as they complete their educational objectives. AU's Student-Veteran Ambassador program pairs
prospective and newly enrolled student-veterans with a current student-veteran to answer questions about life at American
University. And our efforts to support veterans do not stop with students.
